Rattata is a quadrupedal rodent. Its body is primarily pale purple, with cream-colored cheeks, lower jaw extending to the belly, and all four paw pads. Its most distinctive feature is its two large incisors. Rattata has large ears and triangular eyes with red pupils. A long cream-colored whisker grows from each cheek. Its tail is slightly curled. Its incisors are long and sharp, growing continuously throughout its life, necessitating constant care. If they grow excessively long, it cannot eat and will starve to death. Females have shorter whiskers. Alolan Rattata's body is black, with a belly color close to earthy yellow. It has distinctive spindle-shaped fur patches on both sides of its nose, above its ears, and on its tail.
