Frozen Section Platform

This platform holds a piece of tissue during a frozen section procedure.

During surgery a small portion of tissue is frozen and thinly sectioned (about 5-7 microns), then the section is stained for a Pahtologist to look at (while the patient is still on the operating table). The immediate evaluation can change the course of the operative procedure depending on what is seen in the tissue.
