Real rippled icicle 111215.561

A 3D scan of a real icicle.

This icicle was grown in a laboratory as part of a study of icicle morphology. All the data from this study is available online in an open source online database called The [Icicle Atlas](http://www.physics.utoronto.ca/Icicle_Atlas/index.html). The ripples, which are commonly found on natural icicles, are the result of a small concentration of salt added to the water.
