Found a belt tensioner that I kind of liked on Thingiverse but it wasn't quite suited for my needs so I made a copycat in Studio Max.
This has two options for the main body, one with full cylinders and one with half cylinders. The half cylinder occupies less space obviously if that's a concern while the full cylinders give you maximum strength if you really need to crank it down.
Additionally there are lips on the pieces to keep it from slipping off the belt.
