Desk Lamp Mount - Swing Arm Manifier w/ flourescent lamp

The base broke on my desk lamp. It was an outlet type base. The lamp is pretty heavy so there is a lot of pressure on the base. I tried the base only to what was left of the post, and that was not strong enough. So I made the tapered post with a thick pad and used a 1/4-20 3.5" bolt to pull it all together. The bolt is not strong enough and will bend. Make sure to tighten the assembly before testing. I was able to use the post as a nut of sorts and focus the compression onto the baseplate/pad as
