This is a hybrid bowden extruder for the Printrbot Metal Simple. You WILL need the spacer, I suggest supergluing the parts together, or if in ABS use the Acetone trick.
What does this mean?
In this model the hybrid refers to the fact that you are able to control the flow of filament through a gear rather than software based program (i.e Pronterface) or pushing down on the tension lever, which can be difficult and tedious at times.
