Specific to this printer, there is not much of a gap between the bottom of the X axis and the Z axis coupler, so much so that if I am not careful the X axis bottoms out on the coupler and the motor overloads.
Since I have also upgraded the printer with the Z axis wobble eliminator and made my X axis free floating (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1431036) this gap is at the very extreme when homing the Z axis. Any adjustments I have made gives very little gap between the X axis and the couple
