X-15

The X-15 was a hyper-sonic rocket plane used by the Air Force and NASA. It flew from 1959 to 1968 and reached a record speed of Mach 6.7 and altitude of 354,200 feet. The X-15 was drop-launched from a B-52 mother ship.
