Deep within the frost-bitten forests of the Spine of the World, the elven shield-maiden Freylei claims a moment of hard-won peace. Named for the fierce freedom of the wind and the strength of the northern gods, Freylei is a veteran of relentless warfare against the horrors of the Faerun wilderness. Slouched against an ancient tree, her far off stares recounts the day in her mind, looking just pass her cooking fire—exhausted, battle-worn, still remember the fight. She has survived another day.

The composition captures the duality of survival: the biting chill of a solitary northern night balanced by the fleeting comfort of a cook-fire.
