Miniature: The Face of Evil by Nerikson

For this piece I tried to recreate the mood and lighting of Nerikson’s reference picture for The Face of Evil, especially the contrast between the cold angelic light from above and the red infernal glow from below.

This was also my first time trying to make a small backprop for a miniature photo setup. I painted it as a simple stormy backdrop with a light ray piercing the clouds.

This is probably my most hard-worked piece so far. It took a lot of experimenting with the painting, the backdrop, and the photography, plus reworking a few areas, but it was a blast to paint and photograph.
