This piece was inspired by my wife's journey with chronic illness and the inescapable hold it can have on her life. Throughout our relationship, I have done everything I can to support her, yet there are moments when I can only stand at the sidelines, wishing I could do more.

We have shared many wonderful days together, but we have also endured some incredibly difficult ones. This piece is a reflection of what one of those difficult days can feel like—both for the person living with chronic illness and for the loved ones who walk beside them.

Chronic illness is an unrelenting adversary that few people truly understand unless they experience it themselves. While it cannot always be defeated, it can be met with compassion, resilience, and unwavering support. In the end, hope and love remain the greatest weapons we have against the darkness it brings.
