works well as a strapless holder but I included a slot for a strap incase you want a bit of additional reassurance.

Ive used it all day on my silly fast 250quad without a strap and its not once came loose but a less healthy battery might give off enough heat to soften the grip sufficiently to pop the cap so a strap is advisable.
