Tested, and failed. the 5/16" SS rod provided almost no backlash, where this allows the Z axis to "float" about 0.25mm when cutting fast, leaving a rough surface.
Might work well for a 3d printer or laser cutter build; but any sort of spindle will jump.

This is designed to fit the C Center carriage for the MPCNC, to replace the threaded rod and coupling nut with an acme screw.
