Carriage Bolt Seat

This is a seat and cap that will hold a 1/4 - 20 carriage bolt in place. It has clearance for #6 wood screws and countersunk heads.

If you have a square-hole drill bit of the right size to hold the carriage bolt from spinning then the seat is not required. The cap will work on it's own in this case but you will need to mark the pilot holes for the screws after you drill the square hole. That way you can use the carriage bolt head to guide where the cap should go.
