Emco V10p vice knob

My Emco V10p vice (Emco FB2) is very annoying to use. It uses a removable spanner with a square head. The spanner length means that it can't easily be freely spun 360º, as it will hit the side of the lathe. Normally you can grip the square shaft pincer-like by hand (without the spanner) and turn the vice by hand - this works great when the vice is clean. However, tiny chips tend to get caught in the vice thread and the shaft jams enough that you can't turn it.
