I designed this because I wanted to mod my pinball machine with some LEDs but didn't want to buy fully assembled ones, and I couldn't find a place that sells the sockets alone. And with these empty sockets I can create my own custom LED setups, i.e. two LEDs in one socket to increase brightness or add an anti-flicker capacitor etc.
