Shade & Base Lantern

This small lantern is made by using the shade as a mould for the base.

The mould is 3D printed and then the base is cast inside it using fine concrete. When the concrete is dry the design of the mould allows the base to be popped out and separated from the shade.

The properties of the plastic give a great quality of light that shows off the layers from the 3D printing process. The heavy concrete acts as a beautiful and tactile base to the lantern and can be used without the shade if pref
