I designed this to mount an SSD where I didn't have any mount points in my chassis. It holds a 2.5 inch SSD in place while providing a flat surface for a velcro strap to stick to. It is big enough to fit a 15mm tall SSD (such as an Intel DC U.2 SSD) with a small gap above for air flow. This should prevent the heat that these drives generate from loosening the adhesive. It also makes it easier to replace the SSD in the future.
A triangle on the surface indicates which direction the connector should face so that the drive lines up with the mount. It is intended to have the mounting holes facing outwards. Photos indicate suggested usage. Of course, nothing is stopping you from mounting the drive in whichever orientation you want.
I found this holds my SSD well enough - though PETG is quite flexible, the pegs that go into the mounting holes are long enough that they don't come out without deliberately bending the mounting arms.
