To speed checking planes when I'm a Science Olympiad Supervisor, I always make gages. I used to make them from balsa and foam board, but with the 3D revolution, that's crazy.
I now model them in 3D to share and print them on my 3D printer for my use.
I have to split the gage in two pieces to fit on my printer, and then bolt them together with 3.5mm bolts. I've provided the chopped up files as well as a whole one.
To use, the span fits in the long gap without touching, chord slips into the hooked section, again, without touching.
