The shifter retainer is the most common piece to break in the shifter assembly of the Chevy Cobalt. This is due to the stress riser created at a rib joint near the base which causes the engaging tooth to break. This re-design removes the rib and excess material - leaving only the aligning geometry. Based on the infill you select (45% has been demonstrated to work), you can end up with a higher strength part at a fraction of the weight, with sufficient flexibility to not critically fail on the
