These should fit for nearly every kind of spool you get.

You need to print two of these. The hole is 8mm, the thread rod will cut a thread into the part.

I put the rod into an electric screwdriver and hold the part. Just bring them that close together, with the spool in the middle, that the spool can rotate freely on the parts without being able to drop a step down.
