I came up with this gift idea for my teenage daughter, a mini hand held "light board". Standard strip LEDs go along the entire diameter of a 220mm diameter piece of borosilicate 3D Printer glass (3mm thick, heat tempered glass - safety). It is best to set up an adjustable voltage power supply, to regulate brightness of the LEDs, which allows achieving the best glowing light effect when writing on the glass with Neon washable marker pens.
