The sleeve is just kept in place with friction. It can be a tight fit or loose depending on what ammo you use. The federal that I have fits tighter than armscor because it has a thicker rim overall.
The loader slips over top of the tray and fits on tight. I found that it fills the tray out better if you have a lot in the loader trough.
