When I go hiking, hunting etc. and want to build a fire, I often make the Dakota Fire Pit. Instead of using green branches for supporting my pot, I use 4 pieces of 8 mm tubing.

This little thingy is made in order to keep them together, using a piece of 4 mm bungy cord.
