I was in need of a connecting rod cap splitting tool for my stroker VQ37HR engine build and didn't feel like forking out $115+ for a tool i probably won't need for a long time afterwards. When your dealing with expensive engine parts its best practice to not use a hammer to assembly or disassemble, particularly the connecting rod caps, hence the need for a rod splitter.
