Ssgt. Douglas Donahue, Hero of Hill 929. Near the start of the Concordian campaign on Hochhimmel, elements of the 20th Armored Division were deployed as part of a wide-ranging offensive aimed at the capture of an important industrial center. Attached to Echo Company, 319th Battalion, were a platoon of infantry from the 16th Rangers to act as recon. During the 3rd night of the offensive, the company was ambushed as it ascended Hill 929. Within minutes of the battle beginning over a third of Echo company's armored vehicles were destroyed or disabled. Unbeknownst to the soldiers attempting to scale it, Hill 929 was garrisoned by an enemy tank hunting unit. In particular, several superheavy destroyers were hidden, hull-down in the forest of the hill. Due to their maneuverability as well as their apparently lower threat level, the Recon platoon survived the opening salvos and was able to scatter with their APCs into the forest and out of the line of fire.
