These are made to be surface mounted as if you were using an aluminum part. Paint the parts individually first before assembling them. They glue up easy using some simple Cyanoacrylate glue (Brand names: Crazy Glue, Super Glue). I bought my glue at the dollar store. After painting you will start with the small caps, snap them into place and then glue it down. Then take the large pocket align it on
