These are 2 very simple designs for Prusa i3 MK2. They probably will work for other i3-style printer if the Z frame is in same spec.

Spool Holder is designed to use d=8mm threaded rod. You can either put filament directly on the rod, or do like what I'm using (from: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:127181)
The max spool clearance is d=240mm "on paper", but it should fit most of filament spool without problem.
