Printing Press with Chinese Characters

I created this tile and tray set for our 3rd-grade program - Cultural Astronomy: China.
We look at for great inventions from China:
1. The Compass
2. Fireworks (Gunpowder)
3. Papermaking (using wood pulp)
4. Printing Press

We use the tile set and tray to demonstrate how the printing press was done. Six of the ten included tiles are chosen to be placed in the tray. Ink is then applied onto the raised characters and paper is placed on top, and pressed down. This simple innovation on the idea of stamping made for an enormous breakthrough in the sharing of knowledge.
