Harmonograph

This was made for a Phänomenta held at a public school to display how simple, dampened harmonic oscillations can create interesting patterns. While the mechanics and math behind the phenomenon is extremely complex, the simple construction did spark the interest into natural science in some of the visiting 4th grade children, by simply creating colorful art. In higher classes the same object could be used in its original idea: as an example of a dampened harmonic oscilator.
