Large capacity hard disk drives (~8 TB and greater), such as those manufactured by Seagate and Western Digital, employ an alternate bottom-side mounting screw arrangement that is not compatible with the mounting hole arrangement on Antec Sonata III drive trays. This adapter plate will permit such large capacity hard disks to be mounted onto the Sonata III drive tray (and possibly trays provided by other manufacturers).
