After replacing the bed carrier and hot bed with aluminum versions on my 3D printers, the linear ball bearings only ran lightly when I put some pressure on the plate. Since the engine already has much more weight to move, I decided to use plain bearings.

I chose sintered bronze plain bearings as they are cheap and, in my opinion, more durable than Igus plain bearings.
