This is a miniature magnetic checkers set. The magnets conveniently hold the pieces in place. The magnets used are 4mm diameter by 1mm thickness.

There should be no problems scaling this up if you want a bigger board and pieces. If you do scale it to be bigger, just make sure that you also scale the magnet holes back down to whatever size magnets you use.
