I remixed the Z rollers of the Piper 2 printer to make use of printed linear bushings instead of 608ZZ bearings. I've been using printed bushings for years and they work great. It is particular practical to use them on the Piper 2, where the Z axis moves slowly and will practically never wear them out, getting rid of 20 608ZZ bearings and a bunch of hardware in the process.
The catch here is that:
a) that probably won't work well with cheap conduit tubing because of its very high tolerance
