Turbulators are usually placed on the wing surface, around 30% distance from the edge, to decrease drag turning laminar flow into a turbulent one thus breaking stagnant air bubbles on the separation point.
The one here is a zig-zag 60° x 4cm side turbulator strip usually employed on gilders but it shows great performance on other models too. It can be fit onto models from 1m to 3m wingspan and on a sailboat keel too.
