This is a calibration test part that will help you determine how you should size your metric holes for the best tolerance.
These range from x.3 to x.5 to x.7mm, where X is the metric size, for M3, M5, and M8/8mm holes. The hole sizes increase clockwise on both sides. The diagram should help!
There are holes on both sides because layer-aligned and horizontal tolerances can differ. Use the size that feels right with a bolt or 8mm rod. There is also a 12mmx8mm rectangular hole that you can us
