The KMZ turret finder is calibrated to be used on a camera with ca.75 mm between the lens of the finder and the middle of the taking lens. When used on A FED or FED-2 (or i.e. a screw mount LEICA), this distance is only around 60mm. The purpose of this adapter is to compensate the parallax error resulting from this combination. It simply moves the turret finder 15 mm higher above the taking lens and the view of lens and finder should be the same.
