Kitchen sink strainer

After my heavily-used kitchen sink strainer fell apart for the second time in five years (see third gallery picture) I decided to make a shower-type strainer that fits into the drain cup where the strainer basket normally sits. While this doesn't give me the option of letting water collect in the sink (a possible future option), it should be sturdy and able to handle boiling water, heavy pots getting plopped on it, etc.

There's a gap of about 5mm on the sides which I'll fix in the next revisi
