Ice Axe Pick and Bottom Point Cover

These two covers, for the pick and bottom point of my ice axe, fit on the ice axe by friction only. At least, they do so on the ice axe I designed them for, a PETZL GLACIER.
I have designed holes into both covers in order to be able to pass a cord into them and secure the covers to the ice axe.
My idea is that a single cord with a carabiner at the end could be tied to the pick cover, pass through one of the holes in the pick, and go down to the bottom cover, clamping into its hole.
