This is a small adapter piece that allows you to mount a bottle cage on the YT Decoy and other similar bikes in a way that doesn't put high stress concentrations on the top tube. This is important for carbon fiber top tubes, which are not design to take much side pressure. Without this, if you were to hit the bottle cage from the side, there is a high chance it would crack your top tube.
