I bought the Maker Bot Digitizer even though there was quite a bit of bad feed back on Amazon.com - I found it quite an amazing bit of kit, i mean for the price. Because the lasers are fixed you have to angle the object, make small props from thin wire, angle the object. I have found 10 or 12 scans are more than enough, I also built a cardboard hood to go over the whole device but sitting on legs to allow a bit of light inside the box, just used a few tall glasses.
