I used these for the single-handed controllers I build. The idea is you can put a replacement D-pad anywhere you want on a custom controller. I typically place it in the middle of an Xbox 360 controller, between where the D-pad usually sits and the right analog stick.

The top and bottom shells will snap together, once your d-pad is aligned to the buttons, secure the shells with a bit of superglue.
