This scanner uses Open-source FabScan software as it's base Starting point. It is a work in progress as far as scanning code goes but I'm putting it up here since the 3D printing parts are complete.

I have added a few significantly extend the FabScan model most obviously is the Z dimension using a Ramps 1.4 controller to manage both the plate step as well as the as the height step. If you want to use the second N17 stepper to control height throughout the scan let me know and I can send you the firmware.
The bars and threaded rods are all 5/8 and the steppers are N17's . I used Standard 5MW lasers that you can find all day long from China for 5$ and the digital camera is a Logitech C920 which is about 40 bucks on eBay.
