Thanks to 3stigkeit for the idea for this. Everyone loves playing this. I'm printing a handful of them for the holidays.
This post is just my version of it, made more robust with larger posts, and made for easy printing.
The posts are no longer solid with the base. That requires too much support work. Instead I've made the posts separate with threaded bottoms to match the base threaded holes. They use large forgiving threads, so they don't require a lot of clean-up. Now the posts can print laying flat on the build plate and so can the base.
The threads on the posts won't last thru the first two layers alone, so I've added a small raft under each set of threads. This keeps everything in place while it prints. The rafts are easily cut away with a X-acto blade - even if you cut away part of the threads, it's very forgiving and still screws easily into the base.
The X's print with no issues, no supports.
The O's would roll away during printing if you didn't add
