Big thanks to Wallie for getting this thing started. I chose the "K8200 Cover with 40mm Fan" as a starting point because it was the most robust electronics case for the 3Drag on Thingiverse. Now I hope everyone else can benefit from my exercise in learning how to use Blender.
I know why Wallie chose to put the fan on the back edge of the case, but the stepper chips really need an exhaust right above the chimney. That meant that I had to move the keyway for wiring. Not a problem, the relief is actually a bit more integrated with the rail now. I made the ridge on the base solid around the full perimeter, adjusted the position of the USB notch by 2.5mm, added a cut-out for the LCD header, and raised the PCB mounting points to allow clearance for a pair for low-profile M5 bolt heads and fender washers.
If you aren't using an LCD controller, then just wire the 12V header pins to the fan. In my case, I soldered a pair of leads to the back of the coaxial jack. Any way you cut it, you'll
