I found a reference on Pinterest that I found interesting. This is a 3-inch shield, which I think works well for your 1/100 Gundams. You can scale it to your liking. There's a sliced version that you can resize to make it bigger. For the back part, you'll need to fix or modify it to fit your kit and add the handle.
