As soon as I saw the chain and pinion I thought it was perfect for a tracked vehicle.
UPDATE
I worked out all the bugs with my file and the tracks work great. You will need 16 to fit the support that aubenc designed. There are 20 in the file so you will have extras. There is nothing stopping you from scaleing them up for a bigger vehicle like a tank or truck.
