This design was created for the ZYLTech "Texas" sized 5KG spools which are 300mm diameter by 160mm width with a 32mm center hole. The primary goal was to reduce resistance while feeding. I placed a 5/16" x 2" bolt in each end of the roller section with a stack of three skateboard bearings separated by four plastic washers. I used bearings with flanges as the outside of the three bearings. 8mm x 50mm bolts would work just as well. The bearings should rest on a non threaded portion of the bolt. The bearings should press fit into the printed roller. I tapped on the bolt with a small hammer to seat them.
After assembly I was excited to find that the resistance to feeding is similar or perhaps less than that of 1 KG spool. The 5KG spool will free wheel for quite while if your spin it by hand and rotates with slight finger pressure.
I added a version of the roller with a 10mm tunnel all the way through and a printable 8mm spring washer for those that would like to use an 8mm rod
