So, thanks to my kids.... I've been supplying the locals with Fidget Spinners. Using the typical Skateboard Bearings for weights, and Ceramic "Hybrid" bearings for the center bearings....
But I kept thinking there had to be a better way. I had seen ball bearing spinners on here, but they required you to heat the bearing and melt it into place. I started worrying about younger children getting the ball out of this type of spinner and swallowing them. So I decided to model up a "Ball socket" for the ball bearings. once installed, they swivel inside the ball socket just like a ball socket joint.
To install them, takes a fair amount of force (hence the relief at the end of the stem) and a small vice, or a arbor press works the best..... however, if your plastic is flexible enough... a quick tap with a Hammer will install them as well... just be careful, it can crack your hard work!
They take standard .500" steel ball bearings (available for as low as .10 a piece) and I like t
