I needed a small anchor while float tube fishing in the harbor to hold me from drifting due to small currents (tides) and light breezes. After a little research, a 3 lb anchor seemed to be about right for this. Having several 1 1/2" pvc (~40 mm ID) pipes laying around I thought about 18" section filled with concrete would work fine. Since the harbor is mostly sand bottom, I added some legs to grab the bottom a little better. I glued the bottom cap into the pvc pipe using gurilla glue. I mixed up concrete and poured it into the tube, filling it almost to the top, allowing room for the printed top cap. I let the concrete set for 1 day before gluing on the top cap. The legs are hinged onto the bottom cap ears using 1/8" nylon bolts and nuts. I use a 50' line to tie the tether the anchor to the float tube. The harbors are usually 25-35 feet in depth. I store the anchor in the arm of the float tube. The legs are folded onto the main body. The 4 hinged legs on the bottom cap manually expanded before dropping it in the water. I was asked "why do this when you can buy an anchor off amazon for ~$12.00"? 1. I had the materials already. 2. I get something exactly what I want. 3. Metal and saltwater don't like each other. This will never rust. 4. Because I just like doing DIY stuff.
